2016 Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel

2016 Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel

As we’ve discussed before, when you walk into a Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel, you’re walking into residential luxury on wheels, but it’s the quality appointments you don’t see that truly distinguish a Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel.

With unique construction and design, Cedar Creek has earned its place as one of the top fifth wheels in customer satisfaction as ranked by “RV Mechanics.”

Constructed in Cedar Creek’s purpose-built facility in Indiana, each unit is individually handcrafted from start to finish by a team of construction specialists over a period of three full days.

Suspension and Frame

Quality is built from the ground up starting with the suspension and axles, the soul of safety in RV construction. Cedar Creek uses the Dexter Advantage Safety and Performance Package, a manufacturer with a commitment to quality and safety since 1960. The package includes Nev-R Adjust Brakes, E-Z Flex Rubber Equalization System and E-Z Lube Bearing Lubrication System.

Sitting atop the suspension is Cedar Creek’s industry-leading Z-frame construction, which creates a flat design and more than 100 cubic-feet of storage space. Anchored into each frame is Cedar Creek’s one-of-a-kind impact resistant waterproof underbelly. The panels are inserted in the frame, anchored on wood backers, then covered with an R-38 thermal foil shield topped by two layers of residential glass wool insulation.

Finally, black, grey and freshwater tanks are installed with 12-volt large surface heating pads so campers can enjoy four-season camping in their Cedar Creek.

The Cedar Creek solid floor construction begins with a handmade aluminum superstructure of 2-inch by 3-inch aluminum substrate built on 16-inch centers. Heat ducts and waterlines are protected in the frame and insulation, safely away from exterior walls. Craftsmen bond and screw down 5/8inch tongue and groove plywood floors directly to every stud of the superstructure. The completed floor is hoisted on the steel frame and bolted in place with carriage bolts.

Sidewalls

“Just like home” is Cedar Creek’s approach to the walls of your travel trailer. While other manufacturers depend on pre-fabricated, welded aluminum walls with studding every 24-to-36 inches. Cedar Creek hand manufactures its walls with 2 inch-by-2 inch aluminum on 16-inch center – or less frames – just like residential construction.

Competitors’ walls are designed for structure, not strength as welded frames depend on lamination to create a one-piece wall. Cedar Creek’s walls are assembled with custom-made L-brackets and super adhesives to withstand road stress, heat and cold. R-7 residential-quality glass wool insulation is installed in the frame. Finally, Cedar Creek is an industry leader, using only Cedar formaldehyde-free paneling in it’s travel trailers.

Wrapping the residential quality construction of a Cedar Creek is a True High Gloss Noble Classic Gelcoat fiberclass shell. Savvy RV owners know this top-of-the-line fiberglass siding retains its color and beauty as it ages.

From the Top Down

Aluminum 5-inch truss rafters allows Cedar Creek to install an 8-inch wide race track duct system – a full-3-inches wider than most competitors – that helps keep campers in comfort no matter the season.

Next, a triple layer of roof insulation is covered by radiant thermal foil with an R-value of 38. A full-length 3/8-inch wood decking is screwed into place for a full walk-on roof. The roof is finished with a two-play rubber membrane with a built-in fire retardant and 12-year warranty.

A top-of-the-line Dometic climate-control air condition system combined with circular ducting insures uniform cooling in your Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel or Cottage Destination Trailer. The high-performance, whisper-quiet unit has a larger compressor and circulates 30 percent more air than standard units, cooling with quiet efficiency, just like a residential cooling system.

Quality Assurance

Before it comes to you, each Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel and Cottage is inspected at the factory in a variety of ways throughout the construction process.

Midway through the process, 100 pound-air pressure tests are conducted on all the gas and water lines to assure the utility lines are properly installed. Also, all slide rooms and hydraulic jacks are tested right on the production line. Sinks and showers are filled with water to test water pressure and air is pumped into the finished unit to check seals on windows and doors.

No Cedar Creek leaves the factory without a signature by the line inspector, who conducts extensive testing of the unit inside and out.

But Cedar Creek isn’t done yet. All units go through Forest River’s state-of-the art pre-delivery inspection facility for a final measure of quality assurance.

With top-notch attention to detail and materials that far exceed industry standards, it’s easy to see that Cedar Creek is the right choice for RV enthusiasts looking for luxury from the inside out.
